FAQ

As of now, Manic is a datapack packaged as a mod for ease of use. A mod port is being worked on but it will take time. Be patient!

Can I run it with other datapacks?
You'll need to merge the resourcepacks of any other datapack you're using via Weld, or manually if you like suffering. This means you'll have to use the datapack version instead of the mod however.

Rendering issues caused by OptiFine
OptiFine tends to cause issues with our datapacks. These may include rotated or invisible monsters, a sanity bar offset and more. We're not exactly sure why, as OptiFine is closed source. There's many better alternatives. Additionally using Shaders will break the pack, this is a limitation of datapacks and will be fixed in the mod version.

Rendering issues caused by hardware
Unfortunately, you may encounter issues with older hardware including issues like mobs become stretchy, rapidly flashing textures or the entire world turning black. Mods like [ModernFix] and [FerriteCore] can help fix this.

This feature is broken
Make sure you are on the right Minecraft version. Some server or plugin software may cause issues. This notoriously includes Paper, Spigot, Bukkit, Paper and Purpur. You can try to mess around with the config files, but it's recommended to use Vanilla or Fabric, and sometimes Forge with varying results.

Can I play older versions?
Older versions and backporting is not supported but you may be able to find some on Modrinth.

I can't find items in the creative inventory (and other commands)
An unfortunate limitation of datapacks, this will be fixed in the mod version. Using the command [/function nucleus:menu] opens a command menu allowing you to spawn in items, mobs, set your sanity etc. You can also access player settings and gamerules

Trivia

Manic the Sequel was a project made by The Insomniacs for April Fools 2024. It is a 'choose your own adventure' style game where you wake up in the house of Grichael the Grinn.
